1. 25 November is celebrated as International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women. NCCHWO Karnataka decided to celebrate this day by conducting a Self Defence Techniques Camp , to prepare women to deal effectively with any untoward violent incident . The programme was organised by the NCCHWO Mysore President,CD Cell, Dr Sonia Mandappa, further coordinated by Ms Deepa Kishan , President Kodagu Distt . Active support was taken from Rotaract Club of Vidyavardaka and Rotary Club of Mysore West . Principal of VVCE,, Dr B Sadashiv Gowda consented to conduct the programme in his college premises on 25 November 2011. 2. The aim of the programme was to provide free training of Self Defence Techniques to women students. Dr Sudha,MOGS, started the function by giving valuable tips on Value System and constructive role played by women in the society. The Self Defence classes were conducted by Coach of international ranking and President NCCHWO Karnataka, Dr Vasantha Poovaiah, duly assisted by Mr Manu from Mandya . DCP Crime & Traffic Mysuru ,, Mrs Geetha Prasanna graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
3. It was informed that such free classes will be run for all volunteer women by NCCHWO , so that women are empowered to defend themselves , when the need arises. Dr Vasantha said that efforts are on to take more women in the NGO as members , so that more Women oriented programmes could be conducted. The Chief Guest appreciated the innovative conduct of programme. She said that NCCHWO is working with sincerity to empower the Women in all fields. It was evident in this programme also ,as most of the event was planned and conducted by women. Dr Vasantha and Dr Sonia Mandappa were complimented for a programme, which is a true indicater of empowerment to Women. Such kind of efforts will see our women getting recognition at international level, as proved in Tokyo Olympics and in World Shooting Championship , held in 2021. The programme concluded with recital of our National Anthem.
