1. Our country has achieved certain milestones in year 2021 in the field of sports. A record haul of medal tally was won by our players in Tokyo Olympics and World Shooting Championship. This was possible due to combined efforts put in by the Sports Ministry, dedicated players , coaches and Sports Federations. The allotment of required budget by the Government has ensured , the best training facilities have been made available to the sports persons. But, all the people are not that lucky to get benefits of various facilities. 2. Arjun Bhandari is a gifted sportsman from J&K. In 2010, his Right Arm was damaged in an vehicle accident. Instead of losing heart, he dedicated his energies to peruse the game of Power Lifting. He won Gold Medal in Special Category in National Power lifting Competition in year 2019 and 2021. Arjun required financial support , to participate in International Powerlifting Championship , to be held at Kathmandu in December 2021. 3. To support the trip to Kathmandu, an appeal was made by the National Administrator Brig Harcharan Singh to help Arjun Bhandari. An immediate response was received from citizens of Jammu/ members of NCCHWO. The participation of Arjun Bhandari in an International Powerlifting Championship turned into a reality. The required donations were made by Mr Swatantar Aggarwal, Mr Navin Jain, Col Raina and Ms Paramjit Kour. Brig Harcharan Singh said that there are so many promising sportsmen, who can win medals at International level,if timely help is provided for quality training. Arjun Bhandari is a role model for the youth ,who has overcome his physical disability. He has very positively dedicated his energies towards a noble cause and brought laurels for the family and the State. The National leadership of NCCHWO promised to make all out efforts to support such talent, who have potential to win medals and bring glory for the country.
