*Country First -- Always and Every Time: Brigadier Harcharan Singh*

07 December is celebrated as Flag Day in India. On this day, the nation expresses its gratitude to the Armed Forces for the dedication towards duty and the sacrifices made in the line of duty. National Corruption Control and Human Welfare Organization , a NGO, planned to celebrate this Special Day in a unique manner. A number of organizations were approached , which very proudly agreed to be dovetailed in a programme , tailored to further cement the bond between the citizens and the Soldiers. A Marathon run was planned between the Villages of two Veer Naris and also it was decided to gift 15 Tricycle Wheel Chairs to Divyangs , donated by General LM Arora,VSM and Mr Chander Mohan Arora.



The Nation is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the historic win of India over Pakistan, which lead to the creation of a new nation, Bangla Desh. To salute the Martyrs of 1971 and to exhibit solidarity with their families, it was decided to organize a run between the villages of two Veer Naris of 1971 war , holding the Tricolour during the run..The houses of both the Veer Naris were visited by members of NCCHWO. Veer Nari Agya Kour resides at Village Simbal and Veer Nari Surjit Kour stays at Kotli Arjun Singh. Thereafter, on 02 December , the run was flagged off by Capt Bana Singh, PVC, from Kotli Arjun Singh.The runners were led by local youth and members of various organizations in vehicles , displaying the National Flag .


At Simbal, a simple but impressive programme was organized with the help of Tiger Division.In addition to two Veer Naris, Capt Bana Singh, PVC, Col Dr Virender K Sahi, VrC, Senior Army Officers , Heads of NGOs and prominent local citizens were felicitated. The concept of the programme was explained by Brig Harcharan Singh,VSM, the J&K Head of NCCHWO. He emphasized to help ESM by combining the efforts of Govt, Army, NGOs and citizens.


For the programme , support in various forms was provided by NCCHWO, SS Jain Sabha, Jain Mahila Mandal, Jain Nagar, Aggarwal Samaj, Rotary Club Elite, Jammu Tawi, Ravi General Stores, Navin Jain, Ms Pooja Malhotra


and Ramnik Singh. The cash collection for Flag Day Fund , donated by Marathon runners and other individuals from various organizations , was presented to the Director Sainik Welfare , J&K , by Mr Rajesh Padha, a renowned Marathon runner .


Brig Gurmit Singh Shan, Director Sainik Welfare Deptt highlighted various initiatives of the Deptt, to solve the problems of the ESM and Veer Naris . He said that help of new technology is being made to develop User Friendly applications , which are easy to be used by the ESM . Prominent citizen, Mr Taranjit Singh said that the locals are proud to participate in such events, and would lend their support for such noble causes .The locals hold Army in very high esteem, as the army is always forthcoming in helping the people, specially in border areas.


The Divyangs from the local areas were donated 15 Wheel Chairs by Gen LM Arora and Mr Chander Mohan Arora. It was assured that more help will be explored for the locals in the field of education , health and welfare.


Senior Army Officials assured of all possible help for the ESM & Veer Naris.To provide dedicated services , Army has established Sahayata Kendras for the ESM .More efforts are being made in this direction. The programme was concluded with recital of National Anthem.


The members of NCCHWO actively participated in the event. While material support was given by Sh Navin Jain and Sh Swatantar Aggarwal, the event was attended by Brig Harcharan Singh, Ms Pooja Malhotra, Mr Ramnik Singh and Ms Paramjit Kour. The lead runner was Sh Rajesh Padha , who ran,  proudly  holding a National Flag . Liberal contribution were made in Flag Day Fund by Brig Harcharan Singh, Sh Rajesh Padha, Sh Giat Nandan Jain, Sh Ramnik Singh, Ms Meena Jaggi  and Ms Pooja Malhotra.
